The Park to Park races really are a jewel in the Cedar Valley Race schedule. Running or walking a half marathon (13.1 miles) is something many people train a long time to do perhaps only once in their life. Even those of us who train to run this sort of distance often can appreciate the fall for cooler temperatures and lower humidity levels. Both race distances have a number of advantages over other races. Read on and find out why!

All participants are encouraged to use on-line registation. It's easy, and you get a confirmation receipt you can print and bring to the race from Active.com.

• PRIZE MONEY for half marathon - First place male-female ($125 and free entry to next years race). Second place male-female ($50). Third place male-female ($25).
• No streets to run on. The course takes entrants on a paved bike trail, primarily through scenic woods. Participants will run/walk along the Cedar River, cross it twice, run past downtown Cedar Falls and enter 4 different parks
• Chip timing will be used for accurate and fast result times - JMS Racing Services will be providing results
• Entrants have the choice of purchasing a high quality long sleeve Dri-Release Performance shirt
• Fluid stops (8) include water, Gatorade and oranges
• There will be music on the course
• ALL finishers under 3 hours will receive a high quality custom medal
• We are a uniquely walker friendly half marathon. Walkers do need to start one hour early!
• USATF certified 13.1 mile course - IA05011-MF

o USATF certified 5K course - IA05010-IA
o Delayed start from half marathon for ease of entering the trail system
o Course is flat and fast

TEAM RUNABLAZE MEMBERS TO APPEAR AT PARK TO PARK

Trekman racing strives to promote the great sport of running, wellness and community enrichment through high quality racing events that donate money to local charities. This fall a special group of female runners that belong to a team called RunAblaze will be coming to compete, and they are deserving of attention and your awareness.

Reading the list of female athletes associated with RunAblaze is like reading the awards results at many great Iowa races. Last year team member Melinda Courage-Carlberg smashed the old Park to Park record.

Unlike NASCAR our sport does not get big money from big companies, instead homegrown talent is in need of local support and I hope you will be inspired to read on and consider making a donation to the effort. Trekman Racing will be making a $500 donation to the team to assist with their goals at the awards ceremony after the half marathon.
