PARK TO
PARK HALF MARATHON RELAY GUIDELINES
The relay serves to expand the options to those who
would like to experience a little more race fun in Northeast Iowa’s biggest
long distance running event. Hopefully
businesses will find challenges between internal employees and/or business to
business. I’d love to see Hy-Vee
challenge Fareway!
Below you will find how the replay will work and what
each member gets for competing.
TEAMS
Teams can be made up of 2,
3 or 4 people. How you run the legs is
completely up to you but switching at a spot other than an official drop zone
is prohibited and will result in disqualification. Each team must have a unique name.
It is possible for a team
of 2 to have 1 person run the first or the last 3 legs and so on. Just remember that the timing chip must be
worn at all times by the team member running.
The relay is for runners
only. The half marathon has a special “walkers
only” category and special start time to accommodate that group. There is a 3 hour time limit.
DIVISIONS
Men only
Women only
Coed
BIBS
Each team member will have
a special relay bib that must be pinned to the back.
LEGS/DROP OFF POINTS
Transportation to each
drop off is the responsibility of the team member.
Leg 1 – (~3.8 miles) Drop point
is the Island Park shelter
Leg 2 – (~2.7 miles) Drop
point is in Black Hawk Park near campground and some walking will be required
to get to the drop point
Leg 3 – (~2.7 miles) Back
to Island Park shelter
Leg 4 – (~3.8 miles) From shelter to finish line
Course Marshalls will be
present at each drop point to assist runners.
TIMING
A timing chip must be worn
by each member from the start line to the finish line. Without a chip crossing the start and the finish
lines a team will not be scored. There
are no exceptions to this rule. All
teams must be completed in 3 hours.
