Greetings!

Muddy friends 2A couple years ago over beer and some good food Waterloo Convention and Visitors Bureau (then) Sports Director Aaron Buzza proposed putting together a run where people get dirty on purpose.  The type of race where rain is not a deterrent, it is actually welcomed.  The Mud Run was born.

The first year the event was at noon the same day as the Fools race and we had a 10K challenge for those running both races.  The second year we did it on a different day but the same farm in Hudson.  Some health issues forced Race Director Aaron to take last year off and since he came back he has been promoted to Executive Director while the very talented and capable (and better looking) Dawn Breakenridge has taken up the reins at both positions once held by Aaron.

The race venue was such we wanted to keep the race small and make sure people got muddy.  Success was achieved on both fronts, but this year the spot has changed to allow more entrants.

Read on for details and hope to see you!

Sincerely,

Dave Lipinski

COURSE

Runners will start at the back of the park and enter the trail system. Special "mud areas" will be set up if Mother Nature has not helped out with spring rains.  The distance will be between 3 and 3.5 miles.

While it is okay to walk some of the race the Mud Run is not intended for casual walkers.

RACE DATE CONFLICT

Before choosing the date it was known that another race takes place year to year on the same date.  Cross checking registrations from the previous years showed that two distinct entrant pools existed and there really is no conflict that will hurt either race event.  Communication with the other race director took place before securing the date and there is no concern for stepping on toes.

Entry forms will be available at Varsity Cleaners, the Runner's Flat in Cedar Falls and the Waterloo CVB.  You can sign up online by clicking on the entry methods link to the left.
